Today marks the ninth day of my vegan "challenge".  I put the word challenge in parenthesis because I am not doing this as a fad diet or in a competition with anyone except myself.  The stakes in this competition are my own health.  I binge watched a few food documentaries the weekend of 4/16 and was feeling pretty overweight and unhappy.  My clothes were all tight, and I had actually stopped wearing any pants I own with a button.  Leggings and house dresses it is!  This is a dangerous routine to slip into, because if you are anything like me you just completely avoid pants all together.  Two documentaries later, and a few instagram acount success stories later (@ericafitlove), I decided to give this plant based lifestyle a shot.  That was on Sunday April 17th.

The documentary that really inspired me to try this out was "Unsupersize Me".  The success story was phenomenal.  The key to the sucess was simply to cut out animal products and excercise one hour a day.  No crazy calorie restriction, or fitness regimine.  Just to cut out animal products (and processed foods).  Just eat food in their natural state.  I couldn't help but keep thinking about this movie after I watched it.  It is the most simple solution.  Why do we all dance around the elephant in the room?

"Eat your fruits and vegetables."

We have been hearing that over and over again since we were children.  Right?  The way I am taking this change for myself is to try something I have never tried before and just see how it makes me feel.  I have heard wonderful stories about eyesight improving, hair thickening, glowing skin and boosted energy.  I am all in for all of those things!  I have also committed to drinking a lot of water with fresh lemon.  So far today I have already drank 3 32 ounce jugs because it is so refreshing!  I have cut my coffee down to one cup a day and I am drinking it black!

Today I forgot to set my 5 am alarm and I slept in all the way til 6:30 so I wasn't able to make it to the gym.  That is okay, because I am going when I get home today at 5:30 and I am going to sweat my booty off!  I am so happy to be doing this I feel so blessed and on track!  The sandwich in this photo and more can be found on my new vegan food instagram! ----> @foodwithjen // plant based lifestyle started 4/17/16
