I don't know if any of you are reading this, but it feels appropriate to write this anyway.
My name is Katie, I'm 2 weeks away from being 25, and I want to lose (about) 42 pounds. Since this time last year, I've lost 46, so 42 seems doable over the next few months, especially considering the sort of on-and-off diet and fitness approach of the last few months. I'd really like to be down to 165 by the end of 2015.
Now, quick and dirty background on myself. I have PCOS, a hormonal/metabolic disorder with some fun symptoms that include weight gain and insulin resistance, similar to type 2 diabetes. One of the best treatments is weight loss...which is hard because of the disease itself...soooo that's obnoxious. HOWEVER, hard does not mean impossible, seeing as I have dropped a bit of weight already, and it's been staying off.
Once upon a time, I did get pretty thin, at first it was very healthy, but became disordered and unhealthy very quickly. I'd only eat about 1000 calories a day, and would be biking 10+ miles for transportation, walking around campus for hours every day getting to class, and working a job that had 4-6 hour shifts of being on my feet. I'd also run 5-6 miles 5 days a week. Needless to say, I was exhausted. I injured myself on a run, and had to really take a look at what I was doing to my body.
So so I healed, gained some weight, finally started running again, and the weight is coming back off. I'm here to get the rest of the weight off, become a stronger and faster runner, and hopefully continue to improve my PCOS symptoms. And maybe get a little cash in the process.
