One of the excuses I used to constantly tell myself as to why I couldn't work out was that sweating was bad. It made my body smell, made it wet (not in a good way), made it dirty and messed up my hair. Who would want to do that to their body?
Well, I do! Now that is. After I started a new lifestyle change three months ago, I was working out in the beginning barely breaking a sweat. The only time I was actually sweating was from walking outside in the hot sun. I wasn't seeing any weight come off, but I knew I needed to take it slow because it had been so long since the last time I worked out on a regular basis.
After about a month and a half, I decided to increase the intensity of my workouts and found that the more I sweat, the better I felt. I felt as if I accomplished something. I don't know how else to describe it. It just feels good to know that you were able to do the best possible in the workout and your body is responding in some way.
I also like the fact of the health benefits of sweat. As a person who has suffered from high blood pressure for a long time, I found that being able to sweat out that extra salt and fluid is a great bonus. I know that sweating also helps to remove toxins from the body. Who doesn't want that? I'm even seeing some results with my body as well. I feel that my body is getting stronger, and so some of the more complicated moves are getting easier to do.
I still have a long ways to go but I know as long as I keep embracing the sweat, I have a good chance to meet my ultimate goal of changing my lifestyle to a healthy one for good.
