Now that I'm a mama, and have been for some time, I am starting to realize just how much I want to do with my daughter, and how many places I want to take her. One of my goals is to take her backpacking regularly. Hiking and camping were a large part of my childhood, and I want the same for her. Except, I don't mean always car camping, but pack your stuff in and hike back out with it.
I think that increasing my physical activity, beyond 3 hours a week at the gym, will help with this. I want to decrease my 5k time to about 30 minutes (lets just say its much higher than that right now) and I want to set an example for my daughter that physical exercise is important. I want her to grow up as active as she is now, because if you stay active its much easier to exercise and stay fit than it is to start from 'couch potato' mode, like I am.
I have 'run' (walk/run) three 5k's this year, slowly decreasing my time. I have another on August 23, I start the couch to 5k program that following week, and then I have another 5k in October, another in November, and then another in December. Goal is to be running under a 30 minute 5k by October/November.
