This first week of the second month of P90X3 is no joke! I am so sore! It feels good, but I also feel a bit like I’ve been bit by a truck…
Yesterday’s workout was Triometrics, which seems to be Horton for “lots of interesting squats”! It was a challenge. I sometimes couldn’t get past “level 1” and never made it to the “level 3” versions of the moves, but it is the first week of the month, and I’m sure by week three I will see improvements there.
I stumbled upon something fun for this workout. So, I’ve mentioned before that I love to watch Glee. I think there is so much talent there! It’s infinitely better than all the “reality” crap on these days. The singing and dancing also puts me in a great mood and I even sometimes watch clips from Glee on YouTube just to help motivate me when I really don’t feel like working out. I’ve also mentioned that I think the P90X workouts are super duper boring. They are great workouts, but they seem to drag and Tony’s sense of humor is strange. I mean, he amuses me, but he’s no Shaun T! The workouts also aren’t beat based, if that makes sense. Peppy music that has a great beat to keep me going for dancing or running doesn’t work with the strength and balance training in P90X, so even turning the video’s music off and playing my own workout music was falling short. I was always struggling with boredom during these workouts, but yesterday I randomly created a “Glee” channel on Pandora. It worked so well! I actually found myself trying to sing along to “Defying Gravity” while trying to do this crazy warrior 3 squat thing. If you’ve ever tried to do a squat while in warrior 3 and are as ungraceful as I am you are probably laughing as it does make one feel like defying gravity is actually the goal with that move. So, the secret to P90X seems to be show tunes for me. Hooray for Glee managing to cheer me up and motivate me even though it’s off the air now.
