I knew that my old scale was about 3 lbs higher than what the doctor's office told me.
I finally found myself in a position to DO something about it: some consulting work paid as an Amazon gift card, so I used that to get a Withings smart body analyzer. I read the reviews carefully and figured it was worth the gamble.
Setup wasn't too bad but the instructions could have been clearer, especially for multiple users. I watched my weight drop immediately (expected) and it fell in range with what the doctor's scale says, so that's better. I've been watching my weight drop steadily every day since...
until two days ago.
I've had a sinus infection and I finally went to the doctor and started antibiotics. That probably isn't affecting my weight--the fact that I've felt horrid and spent 2 days in bed probably has.
I learned something interesting though: the steady daily decline that I couldn't ever see with my old scale has really motivated me to keep at it. Along with my Microsoft Band, I'm trying to stay on track and doing a better job at it than I ever have!
I think maybe the numbers and the data motivate me. I certainly hope so, because studies show that most fitness trackers aren't worn much after 6 months. I take mine off only to charge or if I'm going to be doing something it can't tolerate (cleaning the fishtank or chemicals). I'm addicted to the data: numbers, charts, trends.
I love watching my weight go down daily and I love watching my body shrink too!
I have 4 days and a little over 2 lbs to go. I'm hoping that the slight uptick the last couple of days really is transient!
