Tonight I will be weighing in and signing up for 3 kickstarters. I ran cross country in high school but that was eons ago in health terms. It's been 9 years since then and I don't believe I could be much weaker than I am now unless I developed major health problems.
Right now I'm too heavy to start jogging again, I am 6'4" and have a huge frame, and I would be very afraid of possible knee and ankle damage. Despite my weight issues, I work hard and my family depends on me for my salary, so becoming bedridden or wheelchair bound is a real danger that I must avoid. So I will start by using the elliptical and stationary bike at my home. I have a nice mountain bike and the local trail/greenway is only a mile from my house, so as I get healthier I can start riding outdoors. By this time next year if I do well I could probably start jogging again.
I'm going to cut back my portions by about a quarter. Right now I already know they are way too big, so I believe I can cut a quarter of them out without feeling like I am starving myself. Making yourself hungry all the time is one of the easiest ways to sabotage your own diet plan, so my approach is going to be to do nothing to my diet at all for the first month except reduce the the amount on the plate by 25%.
I believe that with 5 days of 30-45 minutes of stationary biking/elliptical per week and 25% reduced portions I can lose the 4% this month. I have so much to lose that the first 4% should be quite easy.
I'm looking forward to getting it done and I will be contemplating what next month's changes will be to my plan to keep the weight loss up!
