I just finished my 2nd & 3rd dietbet and I have to tell you, I honestly did not think I would win.  My 1st dietbet I did pretty good, and truthfully did not struggle too much, as long as I ate right and drank water and moved around (I am partially disabled)

These last 2 dietbets (they started and ended on the same days), I REALLY struggled. So I cut back on my calories, upped my water intake, and tried to move around, a lot.

I gained.

So for 5 days, I ate nothing but fruit and soup broth, drank so much water with lemon that my eyes were swimming, and started walking up and down my stairs, even though I am not supposed to because of the pain it causes me. Guess what happened?

I gained even more weight! I became so frustrated at this point that I actually 'quit' the games. I said to heck with it, and started eating tuna fish sandwiches, egg sandwiches, and one night about 2 am I totally pigged out, eating 2 bowls of cereal and a half bagel. After three days of this, I decided to weigh myself because I figured I gained about 5-8 more pounds. Guess what?

I lost weight! I lost all the weight I had gained when I was starving myself. Then it hit me. I really WAS starving myself. I still find it completely odd that a fat person such as myself, could put my body into starvation mode but that's exactly what happened. So for the last 7 days of the dietbets I decided to eat 3 meals a day, 2 or 3 snacks a day (Like celery and carrots, yogurt, healthy-type snacks) and take my chances that I would be able to drop the pounds I needed to in order to make it to goal for this dietbet.

I just had my final weigh out and I made goal! In fact, I weighed in 2 ounces under goal. HAH!

I learned a very valuable lesson this time around. It really is a life change, to eat healthier foods, to not eat chips and dip for dinner, and most important to give your body the nutrients it really needs.  I have a LONG way to go before I reach my ultimate goal, but at least now I know what not to do- Don't ignore when your body tell you it needs to eat, just try to eat something good for you, and not the usual crap I am used to grabbing. I know I will still struggle, but right now I am patting myself on my back for making this dietbet goal. :-)
