Healthy eating habits and exercise used to come naturally to me. After being an obese child, I lost the weight when I was 14, but not at all in a healthy way. Mostly, I just lacked education about diet and exercise balance.
Lucikly, I kept the weight off for the most part through my adolescence and early adulthood. I ate well, moved to California from North Carolina where people tend to be more health-conscious, and found staying active super easy in a city (San Francisco) that walks everywhere.
Alcoholism took away every ounce of care that I had in my health and well-being. It stole my 30's, it temporarily ruined my career, and it destroyed many valuable relationships. I found sobriety begining in 2008 and after some bumps, I've been sober since 4/1/2014. It's true what they say: it's a one day at a time process and those consecutive days have let me to THIS day. A day when it's time to focus on my weight and fitness.
I'm fortunate that I don't have a lot of weight to lose, but I want...I NEED...to feel good in my body again. I want to do a pushup again! With motivation from all you out there on this same path, I know I'll be amazed before we're half way through!
