If you are here then you are probably a lot like me.  I've been on just about every diet.  There have been some rather weird ones that I have passed on, but for the most part, if it is "new and improved" or "the best weight loss plan ever" or "lose weight without exercising" (my personal favorite), I'm in.  I could tell you how to lose weight.  Heck, I could right the book, but who would believe me when my butt is as big as Clara Bell the cows and if I want to buy a dress, my first stop is at "Omar the Tent Maker."

Now don't get me wrong.  I am not negative about dieting.  I know how to do it.  I also know that I need the constant motivation and the passion of others to keep me going.

Also, to be truly fair, I am not competitive but I am cheap.  So putting $30 of my hard-earned cash into a pot, knowing that if I don't lose 4% of my weight I will lose that money, is MOTIVATION!!!

I look at money this way:

  • I've worked hard for it
  • I enjoy spending it on things that I like (or love for that matter)
  • I will often not buy something because I think "well, if it don't buy those shoes, I'll be able to get some angora yarn" (I'm a knitter so usually my not spending in one area means that I'm lusting after some expensive yarn).

So I am going to have to put down my knitting and do some exercise.  You have no idea how truly hard this part will be.

By the way, I am almost 60.  I am married (for 34 years) and have three children (28, 20 and 13).  All of these are additional motivating factors.  I've worked full time since I was 17 and want to live long enough to spend all the money that my husband and I have socked away for our retirement (sorry kids).

So, one more time with feeling!  We can do this.  We can start it, stay the course and win.
