Decisons Matter
Today could have been awful...
I spent most of it sitting, approximately 5 hours of it in the seat of a car, but I still went for a walk when I got to my destination and managed to get nearly 6000 steps in today. Somewhat ironically I ended my day of sitting watching Wild, a movie about a woman who decides to hike the Pacific Crest Trail after her life falls apart.
When I got food on the road I opted for a relatively healthy gas station breakfast sandwich (yes such a thing exists - it's called the Kickin' Chicken at Sheetz. A ridiculous amount of sodium but only 300 cals and 24 g of protein). And rather than pairing it with a hash brown patty I opted for the apple slices. I didn't feel deprived nor did I feel laden with greasy regrets afterward.
Although I sort of had estimate calorie content of my dinner made by my gracious host I feel pretty confident that I finished today and every day of my first full week (I joined Jan 2nd) below my calorie goal.
It took effort. I had to make concious decisions about what I did or did not eat. Meal planning made it easier, but I still had to say no to things that I wanted... the *$&@ing office candy bowl or having a second beer even after a long difficult day.
But really I didn't need them, and not having them actually wasn't all that bad.
I don't know how long this will last but at least for this first week I did it and hey, that's pretty damn good.
Resolution Roundup
My first post was about my resolutions and I was thinking it would be neat to do a weekly round up to go over how well I've succeeded/progressed towards my resolutions for that week. It's a way to keep myself accountable and moving forward
- Lose (at least) 10% BW in 6 mo - Progress: -3.2%, AKA Kicking Ass
- Workout (at least) 30 mins 3x/week - DONE!
- Eat 'more' fresh fruit/veg - I'm having a hard time tracking/quantifying this so I'm changing it to "Eat (at least) one serving of fruit or vegetables with every meal." - Even in the more vague initial resolution this was sort of a hit or miss for me... Definitely something to work on though I think having the more defined goal will help a lot.
- Savings - going well but will likely update on a monthly basis since adjustments always happen throughout the month
Overall, pretty good. Of the four, three are going well and the fourth seems achievable with better planning.
