I see quite a lot of people saying that they find reading about what other people are doing motivational. Personally I see this as a counterproductive mindset, a way of setting yourself up to find yourself, one day, in the position where you don't have the motivation to proceed with your chosen course of action.

So here's my two cents:
Your motivation is why you want what you want.

  • Why do you want to lose some weight?
  • Why do you want to be fitter?
  • Why do you want to be more healthy?
  • Why do you want to eat a more balanced diet?

The more personal your motivation is the more important it is to you and while it might be something that changes slightly over time it is not something that ever becomes entirely irrelevant to you. For example: I want and need to reduce my weight and increase my fitness because I do not want to develop type II diabetes like my mother and uncle.

BUT...
I love hearing about what other people are doing to improve their fitness, health and diet because it INSPIRES me.

Inspiration can come from outside yourself and your own goals. It comes from many different sources and in many different forms. Sometimes you're inspired to copy something (a coffee based protein smoothie - it was yummy), sometimes you see how you can adapt something somebody else is doing (turkey tacos = tofu tacos), sometimes you're just inspired by people doing their own thing to continue doing yours.

My point is, don't disempower yourself by making YOUR motivation something you put in the hands of others.

Own it. It is your motivation. You control that.

Now go find INSPIRATION when you need it and be an INSPIRATION for others when they need it.
