So I wanted to do a little venting on a personal expirence I had today in realizing the 3 different people in weight loss.
1. The motivator. The motivator could be either someone who is self motivating or someone who motivates others. They work out hard and strive to see their goals be met or notice somone elses achievements or efforts to working out.
Example: I am trying to be more self motivating but what really motivates me is when im out running and another runner, walker, cyclist takes time to say good job or keep it up, way to go. Its an awesome feeling that you are not alone and can be acknowledged by other fitness friends.
2. The By Stander. This one is really simple. They arent positive or negative about their fitness journey or others. The by stander doesnt acknowledge others hard work. If they are working out they keep to themselves get what they need done. There is nothing wrong with a by stander.
3. The Negative Nancy. This person is my least favorite person. They are the body shamers. The ones who still call people fat when they are in the gym trying. They are the ones who make comments about how they cant do what fitness people do. They are just born bigger. They'll never be skinny. They are also the people that work out but half there work out is scrolling through social media or just not putting any effort into their work out. Im not talking about the people who are starting off or using light weights. Those people are trying, those people are gold.
The whole reason for this blog post is because I had an unwelcoming encounter with a negative nancy today. While on my run today (I happen to be running by an In-n-out) I overheard someone talking about me while I stopped to get water. They said, "If I didnt work so much I could work out and run in the middle of the day on a Tuesday." So many thoughts ran through my head as I turned around, I have to admit I snapped a little, I replied, "Excuse me?" She went on explaining how she worked full time and she was on her lunch break from her office job and didnt have time to just run when ever she felt like it. I was in such shock as she was walking out with a bag of what was definetly not on my diet. If you dont know what In-N-Out is... it is by far my favorite "fast food" place with amazing burgers and fries. So, slightly irritated I told her that I actually do work. She looked at me suprised with her eyebrows raised and chuckled, "What, part time?" I said (with atitude) "No, I work a full time job just liked you. Im actually running right now on my lunch break. I wake up extra early to make it to my 6am spin class and work out after work when I have time. If you want to work out, youll make time for it like I do." After that I jogged off. I couldnt stand being around that anymore and I was on a time crunch. It made me realize that there are people out there who make excuses to not work out. I am betting my life and someone trying to be negative about it cant put me down. I using it to fuel my motivation. To not give in and be like a negative nancy.
So to all of my Motivators out there I have a message for you. Get out there. Work out. Eat healthy. If you want it bad enough you will get it. Dont give into temptations or negative nancys. Find people like you, who support you and help you thrive. Everyone has to start somewhere. I walk in circles on every break I get at work. If I can do it. You can too.
Love yourself. Be a better person. Help others.
