In one of the most graphic scenes in all of Shakespeare, the Duke of Cornwall gouges out the eyes of the Earl of Glouchester saying, "Out, vile jelly!". This is what I thought about when I was sitting in the sauna today, post work out, day four of my detox, admonishing my doughy midsection.

So many changes the past few months. I've dropped some weight, given up coffee, joined a very expensive but amazing gym, started a team fitness training class, and now this detox. It's two weeks long and you cut out alcohol, caffeine, gluten, even canola oil and meats that aren't grass fed. You can still eat normal meals but they need to be super clean. All the while you take this mixture of natural supplements that increas your protein and fiber and somehow cleanse the lliver, kidneys, etc.

So far my skin is clearer and my energy and mood have improved. I've always been a little skeptical of "detox" because I don't really understand it, but I can see that this is doing SOMETHING. The grocery shopping and preparing meals is actually a lot of fun, and the food isn't too bad. The overall goal though is to get rid of the toxins in my body that are preventing me from burning fat efficiently. If this helps me burn fat then I am hooked! Clean eating on top of the fitness regimen I am adopting are bound to get results, and so I am (mostly) ready to be patient with my progress. (Aside from winning the diet bets that I am currently competing in).

Since June I've lost almost 30 lbs, and I feel so much better. I've yo-yo'd so much, though, and this time needs to be different. I am all in with this change, no matter how long it takes.
