Hello DietBetters,
It is only day three of my first DietBet game and I am feeling determined and positive. I had lost around 15 pounds without any outside motivators a few months ago and I have managed to keep 14 of those 15 pounds off; however, I wasn't continuing to lose weight and so I decided that I needed something as a push. I was unsure as to whether or not DietBet would be much of a motivator and I am glad that I am feeling much more focused because of it.
I thought it would be constructive for me to write down what I am thinking and actually share it with others who are also working on their weight. I think it would be helpful for me to interact with those who are on a similar path. None of my friends are in the plus sizes and although some of them want to work out more and be healthier and are there for me to work out with or to go grocery shopping with, we are ultimately on different journeys. I am hoping to interact with others regardless of the amount of weight they have to lose but I am also hoping to connect with others who are in a position similar to my own, who understand first hand just how overwhelming it is to know that you have fifty or more pounds to lose.
I have gone through the emotions and thoughts that come with gaining a signficant amount of weight. I know how being heavy can get to a person. I know how depression or anxiety contributes to weight gain and how that weight gain in turn contributes to depression and anxiety. I believe that the most difficult part of losing a significant amount of weight is the emotional aspect. Weight gain is oftentimes an emotional cycle and I am eager for the cycle to become positive. I am ready for the weight loss to contribute to my sense of accomplishment and ability and for those feelings to contribute to my continued weight loss.
So, how does one eat an elephant? One bite at a time... & how does one lose weight? One pound at a time.
