I've decided to join a couple of challenges for some extra motivation and community for my weight loss journey. Going to try and keep a blog/journal here along the way to document what's happening and for accountability.

Just a quick intro about how I got here: I've been overweight ever since my early teens- like upper 100's. But then after having my daughter in 2004 it's been skyrocketing. I've gained about 15 pounds a year for the past decade.

Sure, I've yo-yoed a bit, but each time I end up not only back where I was, but up even more.

I am ready to stop the cycle.

At the beginning of this year I made a decision to stop procrastinating and start putting my health first. That obviously means my weight, but also to deal with some other lingering health issues that I've had going on for a while. It's been slow-going, but at least starting to build a little momentum.

I really kicked the health eating and weight loss portion into gear a little over a month ago. I've been sticking to a 1600-1800 calorie diet and logging everything in my Lose It app, along with working on getting my activity levels up while tracking w/ a Fitbit.

Unfortunately, due to the abuse I've put my body through for so long, my body has become extremely resistant to weight loss. BUT- I know I can get past that with determination and, most importantly, long term follow through.

So far I've lost about 17 pounds from my highest weight of 353.

I am hoping to get to a healthy weight and stay there. I don't know what number that will be in the end--but I would love to be below 150 in the end. I'll make a more final "goal weight" as I get closer. I've got time....

My plan to to just stick with it and slowly, but surely, lose the weight over the course of the next 2 years.

I turn 40 on 11/18/20 - and I want to be healthier and fitter than I have been in my whole adult life by then. What a great birthday gift to myself that would be! Fit and Fab and Happy at 40 :)

I am doing a 4 week bet and a 6 month bet right now, which both start in a few days at the beginning of April. I'll write a lot more here along the way--here we go!
