I began hesitantly with a youtube modified DDPYoga Now workout with Stevie Richards. After 30 days of a simple yoga challenge (way simple), I decided I wanted a bit more. I remembered Arthur who regained his life after being told he would never walk again. He followed the DDPYogaNow plan, and he was running still!

I used to be a runner. I used to be a violinist who played her violin. All this was taken when I fell on ice and broke my arm in 2014. Nerve injury, tendon repairs, thumb surgeries, and radial nerve releases, have all been done on my right and left arms. I have had four surgeries with four different areas repaired. I am about 85% pain-free, though, and can use my arms now.

I work out every other day, or a few days in a row, following the DDPYoga program.

I am on WEEK 13!!!!

I did the intermediate workout today, and I could do all of the poses except the triangle because I was not strong enough in my arms to hold myself steady. I modified it and moved forward. I think the best part of the journey is the path we walk upon, not the finish line. The finish line happens when we take our last breath. So, I like to think of the journey of 13-week segments. Motivating myself with motivational stories, listening to others who struggled, who were worse off than I was, and those who wanted to see others succeed. I made it a point to watch one or two motivational speeches a week.

I am writing my first blog, because, it is my first motivational speech on my health recovery both from the arm injury, and I forgot to mention the hysterectomy last July. I have so much more movement, less pain, and more focus than I have ever had in my life.

It is not about how great I will look, but how confident I will FEEL about myself. When the end comes for me, I want my family and friends to know I did not quit, no matter what happened my way. I chose to challenge myself every day.

If I can do it, so can you.
