Growing up I was athletic and never had to worry about working out or what I put in my mouth. I certainly never stepped on a scale. I was always active & also worked in the service industry, keeping me constantly on my feet & on the go. When I took my first "grown-up" job in my mid-twenties, I began to work 12 hour days at a very generous dot.com that ordered indulgent, catered meals for us daily. Combine that with the frequent happy hours, the reduced sleep, and sitting at a desk all day, and the pounds piled on. I would diet long enough to get back to a "comfortable" weight but never adopted a true lifestyle change.

Fast forward a few years and I've now quit my job, moved across state to marry the love of my life and become a stay-at-home stepmom to two fantastic little boys. After the wedding was over, I allowed myself to relax back into those old habits. Indulgent family dinners & lots of wine with the hubby and those pounds are back-plus some. I know how to lose the weight, I've just been too lazy to actually do it.

While some people constantly see themselves as heavier than they are, I seem to have the opposite problem- I never realize exactly how heavy I've gotten until nothing is left in my closet that fits. But reality has hit me & I'm ready to get back to feeling like ME again.

I'm excited about DietBet because I really believe we can help encourage & hold each other accountable! If you'd like, you can also follow me on Instagram where I'll be posting my food & activity choices, as well as documenting my journey of learning to cook healthy meals the whole family (kids included!) can enjoy together. Good luck everyone! Here's to our health!
