So in Jillian's Slim for Life book it talks about finding out your BMR , this tells you how many calories for your height and weight you need to eat to maintain your weight. And your AMR, tells you how many calories to eat to maintain your weight when you workout. Adjusting these intakes to LOSE WEIGHT. There are calculations in her book but I found a website that will calculate it for you. It is also good for women who are breastfeeding because there is a check box and it automatically adds 500 calories to your calculated calorie intake number.
