I am able to successfully lose weight. I have done in the past numerous times. What I don't know how to do well is maintain my desired weight. I have embarked on so many different diets and was able to eradicate kilos but I always end up gaining the weight back.
I believe that I just fall deep into a diet in the very beginning. Hardcore diet restrictions and 6x a week exercising right off the bat. Seemingly successful in the beginning with a slow taper as the days continue.
I know now that the best diet is the one that I can manage, even if it means I lose weight at a slower rate. If my diet is competing with my lifestyle, it's going to be that much harder to maintain. My lifestyle involves frequent travel and gastronomic curiousity. I can tame the devil but I can't kill it. ;)
