Fantastic advice! I totally agree..."small bites"! I couldn't run as a child, I was a swimmer and no one ever taught me how to breath when running, so I used to hyperventilate. I finally figured it out when I ran with my karate group, (we had to chant as we ran and so I had to breath correctly). When I started regular running, I ran a bit, walked a bit. Then my goal when it became too much, was to "get to the next street lamp". Eventually I ran two street lamps before walking, then three, then four, then... You get the idea. Now I run only occasionally. It is hard to get back into regular running, but no-where-near as hard as those formative days.
