I have been absent from this site for a minute now. Struggled with the scale not showing the progress I wanted it to. Daily weigh-ins with the numbers staying the same or going up had me feeling like I should just give up. But I can't. That will only hurt me in the long run.
So I had to change my focus. What is really most important here? Is it the numbers on a scale? Or is it how I feel inside? Now for purposes of "winning" this dietbet, numbers on the scale do matter. But what good is meeting my goal weight if, after achieving it, I lose focus and gain it all back plus some?
"Change you focus" is what I have been repeating to myself daily. "It's not what the scale says, it's what your body says." Hmmmm, it's what my body says. Now I have tried pretty much every exercise plan and gimmick there is. Have tons of gadgets and DVDs collecting dust somewhere. Yes they worked for a time. Provided a quick fix for me to get to my goal weight but quickly faded to the background because I didn't have the right focus. Because....it's not what the scale says it's what your body says.
My body has said "good job on meeting the numbers, but you have left me starved, nutrient deprived, and cold." And the first chance it got to recoup the food and nutrients it did, most often 150 fold. "Change your focus."
After failing to meet my first round goal, it dawned on me that what my body says is more important. i have to listen to it and not the numbers on the scale. I'll get to my ideal weight one day but I have to listen to my body to get there. And I'm confident that I will. Because I changed my focus!
