Good hello everyone,
This blog is esstentially for me but I wanted to make it public because I find inspiration in others. I hope I can connect with some awesome people who are on a similar journey.
A little about myself (for my own posterity and for those connecting)
I am a grad student, working full time and going to school part time. About a year ago, a relationship ended that rocked my world. I decided it was time to invest in myself and to pursue my dream of becoming a public health practitioner. So, I took the plunge, studied for my GRE, and managed to do well enough to begin a program. After the first semester of nothing but school and work, I decided I needed an outlet for my stress. Last week, I began to study Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and I am hoping throughout the year to become a lean, mean fighting machine.
After a year of emotional stress and beginning grad school, I am currently at my heaviest weight since my freshman 15. It is time to invest in myself again but this time when it comes to fitness. I have always had ups and downs with my weight and struggled in my relationship with food. If I am going to work in public health and preach the gospel of healthy living, I need to practice what I preach. Here we go, time for a new year, new starts, and a new waistline (fingers crossed!!!!).
