Weekly Token Prize Round-Up 1/29/15

This week 21 token prizes were awarded across 16 games.  Games with a lot of players (~1000 players or more) tend to get multiple weekly prizes awarded, but this week some of the smaller games got multiple prizes as well.  This is what was awarded:

4 - "Workout outfit" = $75 at Athleta or UnderArmour (Note: if you choose Athleta, it's good at Old Navy, The Gap, and Banana Republic)

5 - Polar HRM (This is usually the Pink FT4)

2 - "Workout shoes" = $75 Zappos

2 - $75 Whole Foods

4 - $75 Amazon

1 - Insanity DVD

1 - Jawbone UP24

1 - P90X DVD

1 - Circulon 10-piece non-stick cookware set

The most common prize is the $75 Athleta/UnderArmour card, followed closely by Polar HRM, $75 Amazon, and $75 Whole Foods.  There's another Jawbone awarded again this week.  And for the first time in a long while, we see the P90X DVD set and the Circulon Cookware set.

As always, if you won a prize, you will have an e-mail from DietBet asking you to verify your address so they can send you the prize. Sometimes this goes to your spam folder.  If it's a store credit, it usually comes via e-mail and not long after you reply.  If it's physical, it usually arrives in about a week (often from Amazon).  If you win something that isn't appropriate (because you don't live near a Whole Foods or you already have a better FitBit) you can usually ask them for a swap.

And a final reminder - if you paid for the tokens, make sure to weigh in once a week!  It doesn't matter if you gain weight or lose weight, just weigh in.  It also doesn't matter what day you actually weigh-in.  They remind you on Weds, but if another day is more convenient for you to remember, make a habit to do it then.  (Note, there is never a drawing the first week of a game).  The tokens don't transfer to other games and if you use more than one in a week, you still only get one entry into the drawing, so don't waste them!  Also, if you have won a prize, you are still eligible to win again (just ask a certain player in the High Stakes September game...), so keep playing!

(Note: I write posts about the stats for all the games that are running, not just the ones I'm playing in, but my posts only appear in the feeds for my games.  If you are in other games, feel free to post my blog there so people can see how they are doing.  I'm currently in the Aug 12, Oct 7, and Dec 2 games.  If you add me as a friend, you will get a notification about all the stats posts I make.  You can also join the Transformers Data Nerds group: https://www.dietbetter.com/community/groups/7-transformers-data-nerds and our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DietBet.March/ ).

Have you checked to see how many times people have won a prize? In The Transformer (Oct 7 - Apr 6) #(48785) I know that 4 people one twice, and one person won four times...

I think there's too many hidden factors that go into it to be able to draw anything more than anecdotal information. I get the sense (from how many prizes are awarded) that more people do token weigh-ins on weeks where there is also an end-of-round weigh-in because it's easy to count them for both. So in the off weeks there's a smaller pool of players and a greater chance of a repeat winner. But there's no way to know how many people bought tokens, how many people enter in a given week, and thus what your actual chances are. It's a random draw and the fact that people do win more than once in a game proves that out to me. Beyond that, I haven't cared. You can glance through the games at the Weekly Prize winners and see how often it happens. Not really that often.

Also, I just looked at the prize winners for the Oct 7 game - there are no duplicate winners in that game so far. Every winner has only won once in that game.
