Hey all, long time no speak. I don't know about you but I had a great weekend. On Saturday I went on a double date, and we played mini golf (I lost) and then went for some drinks in the local area. I had made food for when we got home, but everyone decided they wanted to eat out early then have my food as well as we'd be getting home quite late. I knew I couldn't sit there and watch everyone eat, so I ordered a starter whilst they all tucked into enormous burgers. I think I learnt a lesson there that it's totally manageable to eat less than everyone else, and that you don't need to gorge yourself just because you're in a restaurant. So maybe that's something to take away.
The evening fell a little flat for me though because I just couldn't relax and enjoy myself, as I was worried about the calorie load of everything. Whilst I knew calorie counting is the way for me, I think calorie counting whilst drinking is sort of a depressing waste of an evening, because if you're going to be miserable about it, what's the point in doing it in the first place? I think in future (ie Saturday), I'll just try to leave myself plenty of elbow room with calories and then go out and have fun, and who cares if I go over my limits or whatever. I probably drink once a week, and go a little wild maybe every month or 6 weeks, so I don't see it being a problem.
My calories were even low enough on Sunday to be able to share some of my beloved crisps with my bf whilst watching Homeland in bed. That was pretty glorious, and I think it was how it should be. Enjoy your favourites on occassion, and don't stuff your face (share!)
This week I have to contend with:
- going out for a curry tomorrow to my favourite curry place. They do a dish which is mixed chicken and keema, which I love to eat with peshwari naan. Also poppadums with mango chutney. I guess it's time I try something new!
- karaoke night on Saturday. I will not be able to do this without some serious alcohol consumption. The bf and I have a duet planned that will bring the house down. It's gonna be awesome. I'm going to not worry on Saturday night, what i do have to worry about is
- the hangover. Pizza, crisps, nachos, MCDONALDS. I want it ALL when I'm hungover. Maybe I could get some things in for a homemade fry up, at least then it could only be like 700 calories in the meal (and plenty of protein) instead of the 1500 I can casually put away in mcdonalds/pizza/general junk. Plan.
So I'm gonna go and continue with my week now. Good luck everyone!
