I don't usually participate in Lent, but something my pastor said this Sunday really resonated with me and I'm going to be giving something up for 40 day starting on Wednesday. Something big.
Bigger than chocolate.
Bigger than just about anything I can think of right now.
I'm giving up nasty negative self talk and saying mean things about my own body. You know- the fat talk. The critical tape that plays almost non-stop in our heads.
For forty days, I'm going to say positive things about myself and my body. I will not verbalize anything, seriously or in jest, negative about myself or my body. I will say my 'Body Image Think Session' OUT LOUD every morning for 40 days. Since I don't always do the best job of controlling where my thoughts go, I will stop and go through that think session a la Joyce Meyer to work on retraining my brain.
- I love my body.
- I take care of the needs of my body.
- I accept my body as it is.
- I treat my body with respect.
- I am beautiful just as I am.
- I am thankful for my strength.
- I honor my own journey and do not compare myself with others.
- It's okay not to be the best all the time.
- I am perfect and complete just the way I am.
- I am healthy and so very blessed.
