As I search to get closer to God and seek Him I have came across so many things (books, articles, FB post) that made me realize that God's word says: "Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken." Psalms 55:22

And then I started thinking; my weight loss is a burden and it's a struggle I have day in and day out.  No different then my struggle to be a good Christian. Because believing in God is not the same as knowing Him; well truth is believing I can loose weight and change my lifestyle is not the same as actually doing it.

I started doing research, reading books, and just wondering if the gospel has anything about helping with weight loss, and bam there it was so many articles, so many verses and even books that went hand by hand with the gospel and weight loss.

Recently I obtained a book by Joyce Meyer, "Look Great, Feel Great", where she talks about her struggles and how she turned to the Bible for answers. I am still reading the book and find it filled with a wealth of knowledge.  Reality is that if our insides aren't right our outside won't be either, and our spirit is part of our insides. No you can't touch it or even see it but we know it's there and it plays a vital part in our lives.

We are in a constant chaotic lifestyle, and we forget that at times we have to pause, take a look at ourselves, re-evaluate and redesign our lives so that we can be fortunate enough to enjoy it.

One Sunday during service I remember the pastor saying that our body is our Temple, a place where the Holy Spirit resides, a gift from God. He even had a Scripture to back it up: "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body." 1 Cor. 6:19-20

I found that nourishing my mind and spirit, I can also nourish my body. Like all things in life, especially when it calls for change, there will be issues, conflicts, disappointments and struggles but that doesn't mean it's not possible. We must trust that God will deliver us from this struggle and guide us to better health, we just have to ask and allow Him to do it and help us.

Here is a website where you can also find some Scriptures that will help you in your journey. May you find it helpful... https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/680-the-weight-loss-scriptures

I leave you with this verse:

Psalms 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.

God bless!
