Hello fellow dietbetters. I would like to take a few moments to talk about how music can has a very postitive affect on your weight loss goals. Now I am going to assume that those of us who work out listen to music when we do, and for those of you who don't that is okay, however, I ask that you keep reading because this post may be of some use to you.

As for me personally I will not go to the gym without my I-Pod period, no exceptions. No I-pod no workout, it's that important to me. Now let me ask you this, when was the last time you added some new music to your playlist? Just like workouts playlist can get old and stale after a while. Music, much like our workouts and ourselves needs refreshing every once in a while. My first suggestion is to take the time to refresh your playlist every once in a while, it will keep you from getting into a rut, both in your listening and your workouts.

Now if you are willing to take things to the next level then consider this. Use music as your way to reach new levels in your workouts, especially cardio. Let me give you an example of what I did and maybe this will work for you. When I do the treadmill I usually like to increase the incline for a little bit and then set the incline back to 0 for a little bit and alternate between the two. I decided not to try and use the display and do like 3 minutes at incline and 3 minutes at 0. The reason is that arond 2 minutes I am ready to reset the incline back to 0. So, to remendy this I took my entire music collection (I use I-Tunes by the way) and sorted it by time. I came up with a new playlist that has songs that will last between 3:30 and 4:30. The result, I use the song to measure when I change my inclines on the treadmill. The logic is that your goal is to make it through the song and not have to use the display on the treadmill. Does it work, well I went from an incline of 8 to 12 in one month and I may increase it to 14 this month. Give it a try, just remember, all you have to do is make it through the song. It worked for me, so much that I made additional playlist for even longer songs like between 4-5 minutes and I made a short one that is between 5-6 minutes.

Give it a try and tell me how it works for you. Of course if you have a better suggestion I would love to hear about it, just post a comment and let me and all of our fellow dietbetters know and together we can all make our weight loss goals. Plus we can have more fun with our workouts.
