There will always be nay-sayers on your journey - any journey actually. How many times have I made the mistake of conveying information about what I'm doing to those who I know will be overopinionated rather than supportive??! I'm sure everyone can relate.
I think part of this journey is about empowerment. Not only empowering yourself with attitude and information to make better choices for your life than you feel you have been making in the past, but empowerment to also not let the naysayers get in your way and break you down when you feel like you are making great strides towards personal progression.
Asking for advice is definitely one thing - and I think here you have to be willing to entertain what people will tell you, analyze the message and take from it that which resonates the most. It doesn't mean you have to follow advice given to the absolute letter. However if it is advice from someone you trust like a physician or coach, you may have to also be willing to swallow your words a little if you do only take the advice piecemeal to realize later on that maybe you should have followed it to the letter! But again, part of the journey and learning how and when to ask for and listen to advice.
The point I am trying to make is that this is our time. It belongs to us in the sense that it's our journey and we will all have varying degrees of success based on enviromental, physical, psychological and even peer factors! It's important to not let your success be measured according to someone else's yardstick, and to always be true to what works for your life, because in the end you are the only one left to really answer to those choices.
Happy Wednesday! Weekend is getting closer :)
