I am 37 years old and just recently finished 9 rounds of chemo after finding out I had colon cancer. Yes the BIG "C" word. I was devistated. I had cancer, the one thing I never prepared myself for. How would I explain it to my kids? My oldest still wouldn't understand, lucky for me, my youngest wasn't but 18 months old. I worked through all the trauma, got through the surgery, then here came the chemo. The feeling of whether or not I would be able to keep food down became obvious. I did and I gained weight. I felt horrible all the time and I barely had the energy to walk through the house. No one noticed, thankfully, but I just wanted to collapse all the time. I decided to go back to work before all my treatments started and that seemed to help, but I still put on the weight.
After my chemo treatments ended last month, I was finally cleared to start an exercise routine. As long as I don't over do it, just keeps ringing in my ears. The doctors are quick to tell you to be careful and do not do too much that it hurts you. I was thinking to myself, I can only imagine about a week into a new routine and reminding myself what the doctor said. At that point it will be a good reason to slow down. Probably STOP all together.
Now that I have found DietBet, I thought, hey if you pay to lose weight and do it, you get money back. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and Atkins wouldn't do that. It is worth a shot, so..... We Shall See.
I have my own personal goals in mind, but I know that I have to start slow. I just want to make every effort to be around for my girls and my husband, so no one else has to raise my kids.
At the end of the day, I figured everyone wants to be healthy and this is one way to get started. Good luck to all who take this challenge. Results to be posted.
