Well DietBetters, it's Friday.  This is great news!  While I love my job, I love the weekends more.  There's more time for working on my house, working on my lawn, exercising, lounging, hanging out with family, bugging my husband, and all the other great little joys in life!  There's also more time for going out to eat.

Tomorrow I'm headed to a concert with a group of friendly people.  We are going to grab dinner and drinks before hand.  I've already looked up the menu of the restaurant.  To my dismay they don't make their calorie counts available.  This is fine, though, and I don't really expect that information; I just always hope for it.

So how do you choose what to get?  Well it will be contextual of course.  If you've been gaining weight all week you might have to bite the bullet and accept that the night you eat out might not be the night you get back on the weight loss train.  If you've been losing weight consistently all week, you might be okay with ending up a pound or so heavier.  These minor fluctuations can happen naturally anyway, so I don't recommend getting worked up over it.  Truth is, eating out can be a big relief.  I spend so much time planning and preparing my food, that getting out and having someone else make me dinner is a treat in itself!

The best thing to do when you go out is to have a plan.  I try to order a green salad (maybe with some fun toppings like an Asian sesame salad) with chicken and dressing on the side or burger without a bun.  If for some reason I'm feeling extremely tempted to stray from those options, another good thing to do is to ask for a box right away and put half of your meal in it.  I also tend to eat lighter throughout the day so that there is more wiggle room for things like salad dressings and cheeses.

Anyway, I've been doing very well all week, and I want to continue!  So I'm prepping myself up mentally.  I don't want to go overboard on Saturday.  I do want to have a good time.  I don't want food to be the main mechanism of having a good time.  I'm going out with friends and family to a concert and we're going to chat beforehand!  That will be fun in itself!

Hopefully I will be able to say good things in my next update.

What do you have planned for this weekend?  Do you anticipate any challenges regarding your weight loss goals?  Do you have a plan to face these challenges?

Best,

Adriane
