Hi Maiva - I was looking through groups, contemplating joining one & saw your comment about weaning your baby. I tried to reply there but couldn't so figured I'd share here! I know lots of moms who struggled to lose weight while nursing. For lots of women, nursing brings carb cravings & such (especially if nursing a boy). So it seems it can be difficult to lose weight, because even though the process of making milk burns extra calories, there's just too much intake to offset it. All the nursing moms I currently know lost weight much more easily after weaning, at least that first 10-15lbs or so. The best explanation I've found is that a lot of women's bodies hang onto fat stores when nursing as a reserve in case you experience a calorie deficit. It's nature's way of insuring your baby is well fed but is a serious weight loss killer! All that to say - hang in there! Make sure you're eating ENOUGH calories (many people shortchange themselves) & keep up the hard work. You can do it!
