Inspite of being sick and falling and injuring myself I will stayed on my diet. Usually pain and stress are huge triggers for me to start eating crap and comfort food. So these were definitely winnin moments for me!

I did a water fast to help me increase my water intake and get my cravings under control. I’ve cut out all sugar and will begin Intermittent Fasting as I break my water fast. My inflammation has drastically decreased which has helped my pain. I have more energy and I have much better control over food.

What do you find most challenging in reaching your long-term weight loss goals?
I have a spinal cord injury and was paraplegic this last summer. I’ve been learning to walk again. Exercise, other the home health care PT and OT are about all I’m able to do. Some days I’m unable to get out of bed. I had done really well losing weight until my first spinal cord surgery the end of May, 2016. It failed and caused a lot more damage and I was bedridden until having emergency surgery on my spinal cord on July 14, 2017. After a long ICU stay, hospital stay, and in patient rehabilitation hospital stay, I was finally released and able to begin rebuilding my life again. I’m embarrassed and ashamed at my weight gain. I could make excuses such as all the steroids and other meds they had me on that cause weight gain as well as being stuck in bed. But ultimately, no one shoved food down my throat. I chose to eat foods that aren’t healthy for me. I chose to allow pain to be a trigger for eating what I consider to be comfort food. Now, I’m taking control and holding myself accountable. This added weight isn’t good for any spinal cord injury. I may not be able to cook healthy foods like I did before, but I will find a way to make sure I have healthy foods easily available, even if it means I end up not having a lot of variety. I’m doing this for me. For my health. So I can feel better about myself and be a better wife and mother to my 4 children.
