"It’s a fun and easy way to keep yourself accountable on your weight loss journey."
I have a wonderful husband and two great boys. I’ve been on the heavier side since high school. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes right after I got married 8 years ago. I sort of started eating better after that, but I was still pretty big. Then my husband and I wanted to have a child, and I knew I would need to lose weight. I lost 50 pounds using South Beach, but I slowly put the weigh back on after my son was born. I got up to 256 pounds and decided I was tired of being heavy. That’s when I discovered DietBet. Since February 2013, with the help of DietBet and My Fitness Pal, I’ve lost over 50 pounds and I’ve kept it off. I’m about 20-25 pounds away from my final goal.
I decided to use DietBet because it was something new to try in my weight loss journey. I’ve tried a few times to lose weight and I’ve had some temporary success, but I needed something that would keep me going and reward me at the same time. DietBet worked for me because it held me accountable, or I should say my money held me accountable. I would join bets that were at least $25. That was enough to keep me going because $25 is not a tiny amount of money to lose. I used DietBet to keep me on track with my food and exercise, which I log into My Fitness Pal. All of these things kept me going.
I love that it’s easy to join a game and submit your weight and verification pictures. There is a great camaraderie with the other players. But at the same time, you don’t have to participate in the conversations. It’s up to you how social you want to be within the game. I really appreciated that. There were some games where I was just focused on the weight loss and some games where I felt more social. I highly recommend DietBet. It’s a fun and easy way to keep yourself accountable on your weight loss journey. It helps with the “mind over matter” issue.
