I feel ya on the cheat meal vs cheat day. I allow myself two cheat meals a week, if I stray from that, then my whole plan goes away. In fact this whole thing could have been written to myself, haha! Diet has always been my stickler too...but I am finally getting through my thick head that you cannot out train a bad diet...just does not work.
