I am drastically trying to reduce refined carbs and increase lean protein.  To track this I am using MyFitnessPal.

During the week, I eat breakfast and lunch at work.  Yesterday, I had scrambled eggs and bacon (not lean protein, I know).  But when I put it in MyFitnessPal, I was appalled at the number of calories in one cup of scrambled eggs (365 to be exact).  I did great at lunch but sucked in the evening, although I didn't have ANY refined carbs, my total carbs were 17%, protein at 24% and a whopping 59% fat.  My goal for protein is 40%, fat is 30% and carbs is 30%.

The one thing I like about MyFitnessPal is that I can look at each food I have entered to determine where I am missing my targets.  Like, who would have thought that one cup of raspberries would have 9.8 g of carbs.  Not that I'm giving up raspberries, but really?  On the upside, the same cup has 1 g of protein, 123 mg of potassium and only 43 calories.

For dinner, I had a baked tomato.  LOVE baked tomatoes . . . even when you put some cheese and breadcrumbs on them.  Yummy.  They were leftovers, along with the Cheesy potato casserole, which is where the carbs came rocketing in at 11.4g, although because of the cheese, I had 7.4g of protein.

Anyway, so this morning, I had two hard boiled eggs instead of the scrambled eggs.  Here is the change up:

Hard boiled eggs (2):

Total calories is 70, 5.3g of fat, .6g of carbs and 6g of protein.

vs.

Scrambled eggs (1 cup):

Total calories is 365, 26.9g of fat, 4.8g of carbs and 24.4g of protein.

Geez, no wonder my butt is a double-wide!
