Just like you didn't pick your birth name and can't pick your neighbors, exercising does not give an option of which fat deposit on your body to use up.
From my own current exercising, I look great right from my chest downwards, I've lost fat there but unfortunately the stomach gut is still there. Eventually, the body will use the fat in the abdmominal area but only after it uses up the fat stores in other areas first.
Although one can't spot reduce, working muscles in a certain area does make that area grow. So work your muscles, they will grow, require more energy, asking your body to look for fat to nourish it. Eventually, that will include the areas you most want it to disappear!
