Waking up early this morning so I could fit in a sweat-session was the last thing I wanted to do. The air was so cold and my bed so warm. I just wanted to sleep a little longer... like an hour longer. Yeah. But my alarm clock was unrelenting. And a message from myself lit up, telling me to wake up and work out. So, I tied up my hair and shuffled into the workout room. Getting up ealier seemed so horrible in those first 5 minutes. But after an hour of squats and jumps and pushups, I felt like a super hero!
5 Reasons I Exercise in the Morning:
1. I'm more consistent. If I save my workout for the evening, it's in danger of cancellation due to something-that-just-came-up. In the early morning, the only thing coming up is the sun...and my heart rate.
2. I eat better. I don't want to ruin a good burn with those calorie bomb doughnuts somebody brought to the office. No thanks, friend, but I've got an apple. (A yummy, sour, green apple!)
3. I have more energy. I don't drag my feet all day, and I'm ready to go!
4. I'm boosting my metabolism. WebMD and every fitness magazine I've read is telling me that I burn calories faster for hours after I workout intensely. I sit at a desk for a long time, so I'll take every metabolic boost I can get!
5. I'm in a better mood. Ever since I started working out each morning, I no longer feel like Grumpy Cat. Exercise works wonders when I'm angry, sad or iritated. Hurray!
So tomorrow morning, when I'm struggling to get started, I'll remember how good it feels to accomplish that workout. And if not ... I'll just have to do it anyway! I may not always feel like AM exercising...but I never regret it!
So when do you prefer to work out? Feel free to comment!
