A friend of mine ended up with a soda stream. It is made by penguin , if you google penguin soda stream it appears there is only a single model, a very nice one.
Huh. I turn up a number of soda stream models, but the Penguin one actually looks like a penguin. And it seems to be one of the most expensive variants. That's a nice scale too!
