I've dieted and done so many things to change over the last 25 years. That's how many years I've been out of high school. Honestly, I didn't do much while in high school to change my ways, because, well, youth, band and activity generally meant I didn't have to.

I'll spare you the details, but we can agree that we've all done some stupid things and some smart things for stupid reasons. But because of recent life events (and by recent, I mean in the last year) I've decided that I need a change. Not a change for a minute, but a change for a lifetime. A lifetime that I want to be VERY long.

The fact that I can tell when I'm starting to slack on making good decisions tells me I've learned more this time than ever before. It also tells me that I'm closer than I've ever been. Closer to what, you might ask. Not necessarily closer to any sort of goal weight. Not really closer to a certain size of clothing. Though both of those things are true. And yay me!

What I mean is that I'm closer to a permanent change, sustainable lifestyle than I've ever been before. I mean, I've been doing this since February!! Almost five whole months. That's HUGE for me. Yeah, I've had a couple of little speed bumps. But I'm getting closer every day.

For the one or two of you who have read previous blog posts of mine, I'll share that I'm having to see a neurosurgeon this coming Monday. Hope for the best, prepare (mentally) for the worst is my motto.
