This is insane! Everything you had to go through! I got scared right at the beginning where he made you take ibuprofen on a regular basis. In my experience, ibuprofen alone makes me feel like someone kicked me in the stomach. Hard. It all just goes to show that you have to do your own research and trust your gut. And it is amazing how you figured it all out and proved that clown wrong. But what about all the other people, who can't do that? So scary. Thanks for sharing your story, it is so inspiring! Wishing you plenty of strength and endurance to figure it all out for a strong and healthy you! Oh, and about the joint pain: Some people swear by glucosamine/chondroitin/hyaluronic acid supplements. You have to take them for at least 3 months and they don't make a difference for everyone, but a physical therapist told me a while back that there are studies that suggest that the stuff makes a difference, helping to lubricate the joint. I usually stock up when they have a buy one get one sale at places like Walgreens.

Dunno. I'm supposed to go in for an Xray soon, I've been dragging my feet-- haha. But I've always had some issue with my right side as far as how far my leg would move-- like external hip and knee rotation-- my feet supinate and my right side is somewhat duck-foot-ed. That's not a word. Anyway, there could be some kind of injury. I'd imagine it's mostly age catching up with me in combination with more activity aggravating the joint. Buuuut, not a doctor, so I will see.

You never know. It's amazing what some decent physical therapy can do to break up limitations from old injuries, to correct an imbalance... As far as my knee/ankle issues go, I can tell you that posture and alignment are everything, even the way I walk has an effect. As far as foot issues go, there are two ways to look at it. On one hand, orthotic inserts can correct the alignment. On the other hand, they can make the food 'lazy' because the muscles no longer have to work to hold up the arches by themselves (just an example). So it's back to the point you made above: Everyone has to figure out the right approach for themselves. My experience: I have to keep at it, but I have to pace myself. I tend to overdo it and re-injure myself... live and learn ;-) So it is still a long way to go. However, considering that the doctors were not sure at first, if I would walk normally again, I'm doing really well! Never forget where you came from and celebrate every small improvement! Because it's all worth it in the end! :-)
