So I didn't win the bet, but I won so much more!
These past 28 days have been amazing! I've celebrated my sons 10th birthday (and so much cake!), girls weekend, gone on a roadtrip for a week (and attended a wedding of my Twitter friend!) & stood strong against all the temptations that have been thrown on my way - my perseverance, discipline and dedication was put to test & I give myself an A+ for passing the tests!
Lets not forget about my unwanted sidekick, rheumatoid disease - in the past 4 years, I have wanted to give up on life, I felt like a burden to my loved ones, at times I thought I had no more fight left in me. There were times when walking was extremely difficult, I couldn't get dressed or undressed on my own. The medications and their side effects made me gain 30 pounds in the past 2-3 years. The word "chronic" was messing with my head, too. Making me think I have to give in to the disease and that it's all downhill from here on... After I joined DietBet, my life has changed, my thinking has changed. I have worked really hard (over the years) to make peace with my past and during my DietBet challenge, the puzzle pieces finally clicked together and I have won my life back!!!
I lost 7 pounds in 28 days (though I've lost 22 pounds since last September!), 3 inches from waist and I likely lost inches from other unmeasured areas as well - I feel slimmer, lighter, more toned and most of all, I'm making healthy choices with food and finally, exercise is not a chore, it's fun and pleasant, it's something I want to do! I still need to listen to my body, and the noise rheumatoid disease makes, but it's been an amazing month of discoveries and finally internalizing why life is beautiful and what makes it so! I'm going to join another DietBet and keep going, I made friends who are happy for me when I do well and cheer me on if I fall off the wagon - I am grateful beyond belief and sun is finally shining into my little world :)
Finally, this book, signed by the one and only Chris Powell and his wife Heidi, was waiting for me when I got home last night "Sari - Believe!" :)
