Tomorrow (Friday) is my birthday. Hubby and I have a dinner date planned. I'm embarrassed to say it's been a very long time since we've had a dinner date. Or a real date of any type. Our dates mostly go like this: "Honey - it's date night - come help me unload the dishwasher." Sad... I know. We're working on it. (First step was to create a date night. Next step: Actually leave the house together.)
We're going out for seafood to one of our favorite places. I've researched the menu tonight and I'm already salivating over 2 or 3 dishes. Chilean Sea Bass, or Pan-Grilled Tilapia, or Ginger Salmon. I'm going to avoid the wonderful cheesecake there - although I may bring a slice home to split with my dear momma (age 87).
I'm finally seeing some progress in my weight-loss and I'm very tired of yo-yoing these same pounds for weeks! So - my birthday gift to myself is to:
1. ENJOY good tasting healthy food.
2. Eat JUST enough. To NOT over-indulge. (Think: to go box up-front.)
3. SKIP the stuffed feeling - the guilty "why do I do this" feeling.
By George! I think I just did some fine pre-planning work.
I'm Awesome! I Rock! Go Me!
FYI
I ran across a TED talk by BJ Fogg, a Stanford researcher in behavioral change. In this talk, he shares with the audience how to develop a new habit. He says instead of working to create big habit changes requiring lots of motivation - simply start by creating a tiny change/habit and celebrate small victories. (I'm Awesome!)
During the past year I've been learning all I can about creating good habits. This seemed so simple to do - I started applying it right away. I'm seeing results. Watch the video. It's my birthday gift to you!
The title is: Forget Big Change, Start with a Tiny Habit.
