The MENTAL Scale Battle

Hi, Barbara!I very strongly recommend a scale cleanse. Too much focus on the numbers, especially when you weigh yourself more than once a day, is going to drive you nuts. You're never going to feel like you know your "real" weight, and it's going to seem like you are making no progress when, of course, you are. For me, weekly weigh-ins are best. Sometimes if I have an itch and I absolutely HAVE to know, I'll check mid-week to see how I'm doing. More than that, though, and it's just awful for my psyche. I've also found that weighing in only once a week puts me in better touch with my body, i.e. I'm listening to its signals instead of hanging everything on a number on the scale. I can actually FEEL when I've lost inches, which is more important than how many ounces I've lost since yesterday. Give it a try and see if it recalibrates you mentally. If it's not for you, it's not for you, but at least you'll know.Good luck!

Very good advice. I set sundays as my weigh days typically for this very reason but sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me like today lol. I do notice when i break down and start weighing too much it messes with my mind. Weekly is usually the right track for me. It keeps me motivated during the week for that next weighin.

I weigh every day, but I make a mental note that a number is not "real" until I've seen it 3 times. That goes for highs AND lows. If I see I high number 3x I know I need to tweak something and if I see I low number 3x I know I've been doing well and that's my new normal. :)
