Have you ever wondered why we have some days that we can be really great about sticking on our diets, exercising, etc. and other days where we would eat anything put in front of us that was sweet or greasy?
I'm having one of those days today. It is so hard to avoid eating sugary stuff. So, why the difference? Okay, well I don't feel well, but sometimes we DON'T want to eat when we don't feel well. So WHY?
I'm sure there is some scientific reason like the chemicals in our brain at different times, environmental triggers (such as cold weather is really a bad one), even just plain feeling sorry for ourselves. You know, when you look at the skinny model on the TV and you say "that is not fair because she's so thin and I'll bet she can eat anything". Well, I'll bet you most of them can't eat anything. Some of them probably exist on such a light diet that we would feel we were being starved to death if we followed the same plan. So, blah blah blah on metabolism, etc. Yes, I have certainly known people in my life that seemed like they could eat just anything when I would gain just looking at a particular food. But, really does that happen much? (the people that can eat about anything) Not really. If that were so, we wouldn't be the fattest nation on the Earth. So, look around and know you CAN stop yourself from eating that doughnut or candy bar. Yes, I'm sure they are the best doughnuts on the planet or the best chocolate. REALLY? Imagine they have dirt all over them, would you still want them?
If something is really tempting you, put it away or you can even throw it away. What difference does it make if you eat that chocolate bar or throw it away? Either way you have wasted the money that it cost.
So, now I just need to re-read this blog and buckle down and know that I can make it through today and tomorrow it might be one of the easier days. Cross my fingers.
Later. Denise
