So, we are halfway there on our 4 week journey! I'm looking at this more as a beginning than heading for a finish. Unfortunately, this having to watch my weight has been a lifelong struggle. I'm up, I'm down, over and over. Maybe I can someday get this in check. That is part of why I signed up for the Transformer competition, to force me to stay with it for at least another 6 months. Maybe I can make this a permanent lifestyle.
My weight for the last couple of weeks has also been up and down, but I'm not too worried about it (okay maybe I will be the last week!) since I know I'm doing okay. I did eat a croissant yesterday which is a definite no no but it was so good. And, I didn't put any butter or jam or Nutella on it (I love that Nutella, yum) so I guess that was something. I'm happy to report the ice cream is still where I put it and I intend on it to stay that way, at least unless there is an ice cream emergency. :)
Sunday is my popcorn day for lunch. Okay, I know it's not that nutritious but I had a really nutritious protein drink for breakfast with banana, etc, so I figure at my age it's not going to hurt to have popcorn. And, tomorrow I will work off the popcorn doing the Puppy Love 5 K at Highlands Hammock. The dogs love going to Highlands Hammock so it will be good for all of us. For those who don't know, Highlands Hammock State Park is an "old growth" Florida area. It still has the boggy areas (with alligators), the tropical plants and flora and fauna native to this central part of Florida. It is very nice to see what Florida used to look like and on a Summer day it is so nice and cool there. They have a 5K (3.1 miles) loop that goes around and through the park with separate walking paths you can go off to see various areas, like the areas with wild oranges, etc. We have a small town here and we are extremely fortunate that this area has been preserved. It was given back to the State by some cattle farmers in the early last century for the public to enjoy and we sure do. It does cost to get in there ($6 a car load), but they have to have money to keep up the roads, etc. The loop road (it is really narrow) is really meant for walkers and bicyclists but cars do go down there. They have to watch for walkers and bicyclists. To me it is silly to take your car down a mile to go park it to go on one of the walks, but that is just me. Anyway, they also have camping grounds that are well maintained. If you ever get to Central Florida it is an area well worth seeing because a lot of "old" Florida has been made ugly with civilization. As you can imagine with the 3.1 K loop, it is used in our town a lot for 5K runs.
So, with that I say LATER, Denise
