I've probably read a million articles, blogs, posts about the dreaded scale.  Not one has sunk in, you know the main point of those articles is to deter you from weighing every day and deter you from being a slave to the scale.  Well, quite frankly it hasn't worked and I'm OK with that.

I have realized the fact that if I don't get on that scale daily or at least every other day - then I don't care what I put in my mouth.  It's that simple.  Out of sight out of mind.  I will shove chips, cookies, fast food, etc. down my throat because I lie to myself that I'm still seeing that good number from my last scale visit even if that's been 2 weeks or more.  It's a hellish cycle but I've watched myself do it time and time again.  When I do finally get on the scale - of course my world collapses and I think "how could this have happened?"

It sucks, but it's my mentality.  Self sabotage at it's finest.  I'm owning it though, that's why every day before shipping the kids onto the bus and heading off to work the scale and I have a date.  Some days I love her, some days I hate her, and others I look at her like WTH?  I even miss her when things are hectic and I'm rushing out the door forgetting to step on her.  For my own sanity, I try to keep those days at a minimum.  Afterall, I  have a scale, why not use it?

So if you are one of those people that have been shamed into not weighing daily from the plethora of advice that says the scale is evil.....if it's driving you insane to stay off of it, if it causes more stress than is needed and you just really love your scale - USE IT, GET ON IT, LOVE IT & HATE IT, OWN IT.  I promise you, your world will not end and your weightloss journey might even get easier to manage.  It may be what works for you, and we are all different - that's what makes your journey unique.

Best of luck whichever side of the scale debate you are on!
