A lot of treading water has happened in the last couple of weeks. I had an incredible and HEALTHY time in Nashville, thanks to the support of two text-buddies to whom I stayed accountable for my exercise and healthy eating. It was incredible to take a trip and not have it based in debauchery. I felt truly blessed to have a healthy trip and was able to meditate 5 of the 7 days and to go to a sit with Against the Stream in Nashville. I'm so grateful, too, for all the tips that this community gave me - writing out a plan before the day, recording what I eat and when I work out, bringing healthy snacks with me. It was so helpful.
So after our weigh-in on the 9th, I did a bit of unhealthy eating, letting some sliding happen into treats, then more treats. It's not a full onslaught of sugar, alcohol and carbs... YET. So now is the time to nip it in the bud. For the last week and a half, I've been been plateauing (not a bad thing!); working out my normal 5 days per week, mixing it up with dance classes and hiking, but then offsetting that with croissants, mochas, chocolate, wine, beer, cocktails, etc. So now is the time to refocus, especially since I just LOVE being an A+ student with a goal beyond just our Round 3 goal. (Overachievers unite!) I'm almost at Round 3 goal, and I'd like to get all the way to 10% loss by 5/9. I know I can do it!
So my plan for the next 7 days:
- journal 2-3 times. So important for my creative life and my mental health
- meditation daily (natch)... including the weekend, though. often this gets dropped out
- Exercise: dance class tonight (sassy hip hop - whaaat?!), Fri morning gym, Saturday morning yoga or dance, Sunday whatever I feel like, Monday and Tuesday 6am gym
- Healthful eating: breakfasts oatmeal as usual except for Saturday brunch (eat half, take half to go), lunches and dinners - rice beans veggies and goat cheese, whole wheat pasta with pesto and veggies, veggie wraps and sandwhiches, salads, except thursday Indian takeout. Passover on Friday, only two 1/3 plates (fill only a 1/3 of my plate, option for seconds of another 1/3 of my plate). Sparkling water & no booze. Skip dessert - so hard, but worth it!! Dinner on Tuesday at Clover. The hardest part is not gorging in the evening or having a 4th meal or snacks after dinner. I think meditation in the evening could help with this, journalling, calling/texting a friend, or drinking sparkling water. Evening digestion w/o more consumption is huge for my success.
Okay - that's it for now. May we all keep treating ourselves with compassion and amazement. Enjoy the jiggling as you dance and the strength as you lift!
