For years I have read numerous books and "practiced" many diets.  Although there are many fads, trends, and ever-changing theories on weight loss, I actually have not found any one "plan" that has worked for me on a long-term basis.  I also want to find a SUSTAINABLE way of living a healthy, vital life-style.  To that end I decided on a new course of action that I put into motion April 26, 2016.

I have "talked" about before how my goals this kickstarter and transformer(s) included a lot of planning (thank again myfitnesspal.com).

  • I am eating every 2-3 hours - spreading out MY 1,200 caloric consumption throughout my waking hours.
  • I have some form of protein with every meal - especially important to me to focus on good proteins after each workout and with my last snack of the day (to promote better sleep - seems to help).
  • I am working out/moving 3 times a day (all except for one day - the first day I did Leslie Sansone's 4 mile SuperChallenge with 2 pound hand weights and only worked out twice that day.)

I feel fantastic!  I have tons of energy and have only felt hungry once (drank lots of water and told myself it was temporary).

I am convinced I have either ramped up my metabolism or have just created so much mayhem by giving my body sustained nutrition and keeping "reved" up that I am finally seeing a remarkable initial burst of weight loss.

My pre-plan is that when I reached my targets for each section of my DietBets I will ramp up my caloric intake so that my body doesn't go into sme kind of a "survival" mode and try to undo all my good works.  I have already reached my goal for Ali's Kickstarter and for my April 26th Transformer 1st round.  I also joined the May 3rd Transformer, and am 1.1 pounds away from making that goal.

So today I went back into myfitnesspal and readjusted my goals.  Based on working out 30 minutes a day (I do more) the app calculated:

  • To lose 1 pound per week at my current weight I would need 1,490 colories
  • To lose 1/2 pound a week I would need 1,740 calories

So I decided to enter a goal of 1,500 colories a day starting tomorrow for 1 week and see how it goes.

CARPE DIEM!
