I love your story. I lost both parents, my dog who was everything to me, and my Aunt and Uncle all in 6 months. My parents both had strokes and my dad died the week my mom had her stroke. She passed 3 months afterwards. My mom was thin but frail and I promised myself after I took care of her that I would be strong so at 52 I started lifting weights (taking kettle bell classes). It is making a huge difference. Keep following your dream and let's be the best we can be in our 50's ( as I say the new 30's!)

Wow. I am so sorry to hear of your tremendous loss. You are definitely a strong woman to survive all of that heartbreak in such a short period of time. My prayers are with you. My mom was very thin and frail too. Never weighed more than 98 pounds. I remember the last time I hugged her and thinking to myself that she was barely there. When you started weight lifting, how did you know what to do? Did you get a personal trainer? I've never thought about kettle bells before. Maybe I'll look into that!

I was working out at e Y just in their bike/elliptical area. Someone told me to at least give kettle bells a try. Thought it would be too intimidating but I tried it. Everyone works at their own limits to what their body can handle. Down the road I noticed my arms getting muscular and showing definition. The more I went, , the less I did not want to skip and it's working. I do not have my mom's frail body. I feel just like you, hugging my mom and she barely weighed anything. Funny today is the day my dad had his stroke 4 years ago and everything went downhill since then. The following summer, which will be three years this summer, my mom had her stroke the and during that same week my dad passed and she died soon after. Wow, honestly this is what I strongly believes keeps me moving ahead,.... hope you keep pushing towards the positive too. ????
